BENGALURU: A man was arrested for killing the 12-year-old son of his lover because the mother would not attend to his phone calls, in the city on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Sampath.
Praveen, the boy’s father, and Sampath were friends and he often brought Sampath to his house. But Sampath was in an extramarital affair with Praveen’s wife. After coming to know of this, Praveen and his wife got divorced. After the divorce, the woman moved into another house with Sampath, and they lived in Kolar.
After some days, Sampath started to harass her, and unable to bear his harassment, the woman blocked his number and moved on to another place. Angry at her for not picking his calls, Sampath kidnapped her son and threw him in the lake. He then tried to commit suicide by consuming poison.
The woman reported that her son was missing, and after nine days, the body was found in the Kyasamballi Lake. A case has been registered at Bagalur police station. During questioning, Sampath admitted that he had pushed the boy into the lake out of anger. The police arrested the accused and further investigation is under way.
