SHIVAMOGGA: Even as tension prevails after a stone-pelting case was reported in the Sigehatti area in the district, a 37-year-old man was killed by unknown people over alleged personal rivalry at Venkatesh Nagar in Shivamogga late on Monday night.

The deceased person has been identified as Vijay, who was working as an accountant at a hospital. His father was a retired executive engineer.

Vijay murdered for alleged personal reason in front of his house, the Police are investigating the case.

District Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar said, “After the stone pelting by unidentified people, a murder case has been reported at Venkatesh Nagar. But there is no connection between the two cases. The motive behind the crime was different. We have recovered the CCTV footage of the incident”.

The SP, quoting the father of the deceased, said “Three of his family members had gone to a theatre to watch a movie at night and returned to home. Around 12.30 am, Vijay got a call and went outside the house. Going by CCTV footage, a known person committed the. We are evaluating the case from all angles”.

The Jayanagar police visited the spot and taken up further investigation.
