Man into gambling, debt fakes kidnap, arrested

BENGALURU: A man who was involved in online gambling, staged his own kidnap. He has since been arrested by police. The accused has been identified as Jeevan, a warden at an Oxford College.

Jeevan’s aunt Sunanda also works at the same college. Jeevan sent fake photos to his aunt showing that he had sustained an injury to his head. He had spilled tomato sauce on his head to fake it as blood.

Soon after hearing about this incident, Sunanda filed a complaint with the Bommanahalli police. During the investigation, it came to light that Jeevan had staged the kidnap drama along with his friends for the sake of money.

Jeevan had lost money on an online app called Gold369. When he had no money to gamble again, he pretended to have be kidnapped. Also, earlier, he got his aunt to transfer Rs 20,000 to his bank account.

The accused Jeevan, along with his friends Vinay, Purnesh, Pritam and Raju, has been arrested by the Bommanahalli police while he was engaged in online gambling at Bingipura in Anekal.
