BENGALURU: The condition of 29-year-old Akshay, who suffered severe head injuries after a tree branch fell on him while he was riding a two-wheeler near Brahmachaitanya Temple in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, recently, remains in deep coma.

A tree branch fell on him, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, which then collided with a parked car. Akshay’s friend, Prashant, was also injured and fell to the ground. Locals rushed them to the hospital, where Akshay is currently fighting for his life in critical condition.

Akshay, an HR professional working in Rajajinagar, suffered severe head injuries, including bleeding from his nose, mouth, and ears. His family is worried, especially since his father is undergoing dialysis, and Akshay was the primary breadwinner.

The doctors have informed the family that Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has assured that they will clear the hospital bills, but none of the officials visited the hospital. His brother, Benaka Raj, has requested BBMP’s assistance, stating that the family is struggling to cope with the situation. The family had been relying on Akshay for support.

Apollo Hospital’s neurosurgeon, Dr Sreedhar, speaking about Akshay’s health status, said that the doctors have stated that Akshay is in a deep coma with severe brain damage and is currently on a ventilator. “His brain is not responding, and the medical team is waiting for any signs of improvement before proceeding with further treatment. The next 24 hours are crucial, and the doctors have cautioned that it’s too early to predict the outcome”, he said.
