Man hires cab from Mysuru, steals vehicle and driver’s mobile phone after stabbing him

BENGALURU: A cab driver was stabbed and brutally assaulted by a passenger who also stole his money and a mobile phone and escaped with the cab near Thanisandra around 11 pm on Thursday. The Hennur police have taken the accused into custody and are questioning him.

Cab driver Pradeep had taken a passenger from Mysuru to Bengaluru in hiscar. On the way, the car stopped at two places, and a plastic‑covered item was handed over to two people. Suspecting it might be ganja, driver Pradeep became anxious.

After reaching the drop location in Shivajinagar, Bengaluru, he was asked to drop the passenger at Hennur. When the cab driver reached Hennur, the passenger said he had no money and that he would go to his sister’s house and get money.

The passenger, after getting out of the car around 11 pm, suddenly returned and stabbed driver Pradeep in the hand and head with a knife, assaulted him and fled with his money, mobile phone and the car.

A complaint has been lodged at the Hennur police station regarding the incident. The car was found at Victoria Hospital based on GPS location by the Hennur police.
