HASSAN: The third Additional Sessions Court in Hassan has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping and murdering his girlfriend. The convict was identified as Praveen.
The incident occurred on April 22, 2018. Praveen, who had convinced a young woman from Belur taluk that he loved her, raped her when she came to celebrate his birthday and then strangled her to death. The crime took place near Kalakere village in Hassan taluk.
The court sentenced A1 accused Praveen (29) from Hadlagere to life imprisonment and A2 Thammanni to two years of rigorous imprisonment for destroying evidence. Inspector P K Raju investigated the case and filed a chargesheet in court.
After a lengthy trial, the court delivered the sentence. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Hassan Rural police station. Due to the police’s thorought investigation, both accused in the rape and murder case have been jailed.
