HASSAN: The second additional district and sessions court here has sentenced a man to 10 year rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000 for raping a 67-year-old woman. The convict is Ramesh, a resident of Banavase village in Kattaya hobli.
On July 29, 2020, Ramesh gained entry into the woman’s house through the roof and had raped her. He then fled from the scene. A case had been registered at the women’s police station in Hassan.
After investigation, the police had submitted a chargesheet invoking sections 448, 323, 341, 376 of IPC. The court of Hidayatullah Sharif held the accused guilty of the crime and ordered Rs 4 lakh relief for the victim from the district legal services authority.
