BENGALURU: A two-wheeler rider has run up fines of Rs 1.40 lakh and a total of 284 traffic offences have been registered against him for repeatedly violating traffic rules since 2020. The case came to light during a drive taken up by the traffic police to seize vehicles which have run up fines of Rs 50,000 and more.
The motorcycle rider in question has been caught on cameras on several occasions riding to work without a helmet. Besides, he was violating other traffic rules every day.
The special drive was conducted by Bengaluru South Division Traffic police since last week to impound vehicles with fines of more than Rs 50,000. A total fine on 85 bikes and a car which have run up fines of Rs 1,07,45,000 have been seized. A total of 10,210 violation cases have been registered against these 85 vehicles. The vehicles have been seized and notices issued to the owners, police said.
