VIJAYAPURA: Unidentified attackers opened fire at a car, killing one person, near Manavara Doddi close to Arakeri village in Tikota taluk on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Satish Rathod.
According to Prem Singh, the father of the deceased, one Ramesh Chauhan and others were involved in the killing. The Vijayapura Rural police have launched a hunt for the killers. Satish was driving back from the Amoghasidda temple when he was killed.
Satish Rathod was reportedly in a relationship with Ramesh Chauhan’s daughter and his family had approached Ramesh to solemnise the marriage about a year ago. However, Ramesh had rejected the marriage proposal following which his daughter ended her life by jumping into a well, police sources said.
Prem Singh, the father of the deceased alleged that Ramesh and five others killed Satish to exact revenge for his daughter’s death.
Murdered man’s partially buried body found
A man was murdered and his body partially buried at a burial ground at Keerthi Nagar on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Shivaraj Siralashetti (34).
Police said that as per Shivaraj’s driving licence, he hailed from Shirur village in Bagalkot taluk. According to some locals, some men were spotted consuming alcohol at the same burial ground on Monday afternoon. The motive for the murder was not immediately known. The police are on the lookout for the killers.
