A man dialled the emergency response number as he wanted a lift to his father-in-law's house.

CHIKKAMAGALUR: Stuck in the rain and with no vehicles in sight, a man dialled the emergency response number 112 and called the police, thinking he could get a lift to his father-in-law’s house where a non-vegetarian feast awaited him.

Ashok, a resident of Taruve village near Kottigehara in Mudigere taluk, had to reach his father-in-law’s house at Palguni village for the Pitru Paksha ceremony. Since it was raining and there was no movement of vehicles, Ashok dialled the emergency number claiming there was major trouble at home.

When the police arrived at Kottigehara, Ashok told them that he needed to go to Palguni village and since he did not have any means of transport, he had called the emergency number and sought a lift from the police.

Amused and flummoxed, the police then told Ashok that the official vehicle was for public service and not to drop him off to his father-in-law’s house. They then flagged down a truck and ensured that he reached Palguni village.
