DHARWAD: A man died while offloading a mini tractor on the first day of the Krishi Mela organised at the Agriculture University, Dharwad, on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Parashuram (58).
The mini tractor was brought to the Krishi Mela venue for display. While offloading the vehicle from a truck, the mini tractor fell on Parashuram’s head, leading to his death. The body was later shifted to the Dharwad district hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police Commissioner N Shashikumar, who visited the spot, collected information from the university vice-chancellor regarding the incident. He also said Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot will visit the Krishi Mela on Sunday and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday.
Speaking to media persons, he said, “Parashuram was a demonstrator for the tractor company. Prima facie, there seems to be negligence on the part of the tractor company. They should have ensured that there are proper ramps for offloading the mini tractor. Based on the complaint’s from the victim’s family, we will take up further investigation”.
