Man burnt to death inside parked school bus in Banasawadi

BENGALURU: An unidentified person, who was inside a parked school bus, was burnt to death after it caught fire in Banasawadi. The bus, belonging to a private transporter Arun, had been parked in OMBR Layout for three months due to mechanical issues and lack of insurance.

The fire broke out around 10:08 pm on Tuesday, and firefighters quickly responded to extinguish the flames. Upon inspection, the police found a charred body of a male inside the bus, estimated to be around 30 years old. The body was severely burnt, making identification a challenge.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the person might have been sleeping inside the bus, using a mat and pillow, and possibly smoking beedis, as some beedi stubs were found inside. The police are now investigating whether the fire was accidental, caused by beedi stub, or a deliberate act of miscreants.

The Ramamurthy Nagar police have registered an unnatural death case and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is under way to determine the exact cause of the fire and the identity of the deceased. The police are investigating the angle of whether someone else set the bus on fire and committed murder.
