HASSAN:A 65-year-old man brutally murdered his wife after an argument over selling their coffee yield at a lower price at Tambalagere village in Sakleshpura taluk last Friday. The deceased has been identified as Ratnamma (58). The murder came to light only this Thursday.
Paramesh and Ratnamma got married 30 years ago and have two children. Even their children are married. The couple stayed in the village and worked on their four-acre coffee plantation. Ratnamma had a desire to build a house and was saving money for it.
Ever since their marriage, Paramesh used to pick fights with his wife over several issues. Earlier, he had hit her head and broken her finger and assaulted her badly over financial disputes. Last Friday, the couple fought again and he attacked her with a machete, killing her.
After the murder, Paramesh went about his work on the plantation even as his wife’s body lay in the house. But he fled after the body started to emanate foul smell. The case came to light when a few relatives went to their house to invite them for a wedding. They saw the house locked and opened a window to drop the invitation invitation inside when they sensed foul smell from the house. The couple’s son is working as a driver in Belagavi. The relatives informed him about the foul smell. On suspicion, he came to the house, broke open the door with the help of locals and discovered his mother’s body.
A case has been registered at Yesalur police station. A dog squad and police team visited the spot. Further investigation is on.
