MYSURU: A man was arrested for brutally assaulting his wife for not giving birth to a male child at Sonhalli village in HD Kote taluk on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Chandru. He brutally assaulted his wife Shivamma. Her family members have alleged that her father-in-law Ramegowda and mother-in-law Kempamma helped in the attack.
Shivamma had given birth to two daughters. Due to this, her husband and other family members assaulted and mentally abused her. The couple underwent counselling many times, but it didn’t help. Unable to endure the continuous harassment, Shivamma filed a complaint with the HD Kote police last year.
After the assault, the police have arrested her husband, and are searching for her father-in-law and mother-in-law, who are absconding.
