BENGALURU: The Kothanur police have cracked a four-month-old murder mystery of a woman. The accused, Lakshman, has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman, Mary, and dumping her body in a dump yard.
Mary had gone missing from the Nagenahalli slum in Kothanur on November 26, 2024. Lakshman, who was also a resident of the same slum, was missing too.
During the investigation, police traced Lakshman and interrogated him. He admitted to the murder of Mary for her 50 grams of gold. Lakshman then took the gold and dumped Mary’s body at Hosur Bunde in Bagalur. The body was found in a decomposed state on March 9. Lakshman has been arrested and is being interrogated by the Kothanur police.
The accused, Lakshman, planned the murder after watching scenes from a Kannada movie. He had taken a loan of Rs 2 lakh and had planned to kill Mary to repay the debt. Lakshman had observed Mary’s routine and had planned to kill her on November 25. He cut off electricity to the house thinking that she was and would definitely call him to fix the power supply. But nothing happened as such and Lakshman planned to kill her on another occasion.
On November 26, Lakshman called Mary and asked her to meet him. He then killed her and dumped her body in a waste yard in Bagalur. Laxman was using a total of four SIM cards. On the morning of November 26, three of the SIM cards he was using were left at his wife’s house in DJ Halli. The accused had planned this to mislead the police.
He had stuffed the body in an autorickshaw at 3 pm and had dumped it at a garbage dumpyard. He turned on her mobile and threw it there. When the police checked his call detail records, his location was showing at DJ Halli on November 26. So the police did not suspect him. Finally, he was caught when he restarted the phone to talk to his girlfriend, which led the police to suspect him.
