BELAGAVI: A shocking murder case has come to light in Ghataprabha in the district. Pradeep Nayak, a resident of Chikkodi, has been arrested for the brutal murder of his friend Tukaram Shinge, a labourer from Maheshwadi village in Athani taluk.
The incident occurred on October 22, and Pradeep was arrested 2.5 months later. Tukaram was stripped naked and killed in front of his lover, who was allegedly in a romantic relationship with Pradeep.
According to the police, Pradeep and Tukaram were friends, along with Arif, a man from Maharashtra. The three would often drink together at a bar in Ghataprabha and were involved in several theft cases at the railway station.
On the day of the murder, Pradeep, Tukaram and Arif had drinks together at the bar. Pradeep had planned the murder and took Tukaram to a secluded spot, where he stripped him naked and killed him in front of his lover.
During the investigation, Pradeep confessed to the crime and revealed that he had also killed another man, Bulli Mahadev, in Hubballi in 2022. The police are investigating the case, and Pradeep will be handed over to the Hubballi railway police for further action.
The police tracked Pradeep to a railway station in Nira, Pune, and arrested him. When they approached him, Pradeep tried to escape by jumping from a moving train, but was caught by the police.
