CHIKKAMAGALUR, CHIKKABALLAPUR: A man has been arrested for killing his five-year-old daughter by hitting her with an iron pipe, at their house near Shivani railway station in Ajjampura taluk.
On September 19, the girl had fever and stayed back at home as the anganwadi centre too was closed on that day. The parents Manjunath and Mangala had left behind their daughter at home and headed to work. When they returned around lunch time, the child was found dead with wounds on the cheeks and hands, the ear studs and anklets missing.
Investigation revealed that Manjunath and Mangala quarrelled often and he suspected the parentage of the child. On that day, Manjunath, who works in the areca market, had returned home, killed his daughter and headed back to work before returning again during lunch time.
Manjunath, who hails from Bengaluru, had falled in love with Mangala and the two had got married.
Elsewhere, a 25-year-old man killed his mother after an argument at Chikkahosalli village in Gauribidanur taluk of Chikkaballapur district on Tuesday night. The deceased is Ramanjinamma (45).
Chandrashekar had questioned his mother’s paramour about their illicit affair and the mother-son duo had an argument about this, Chandrashekar, who was drunk, killed Ramanjinamma by smashing her head with a boulder.
After committing the murder, he was hiding in the forest, but was traced and arrested by the police. The Manchenahalli police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
