BENGALURU: A man was arrested for allegedly harassing three women college students by entering the students’ room posing as a Crime Branch police officer. The accused has been identified as Ramesh, a security guard.
One of the students, a second-year BSc student from Kerala, shared a room with three friends. On January 25, after dinner, the accused knocked on the door, claiming to be a police officer. When the student opened the door, he entered the room.
The accused locked the door from inside, took the students’ mobile phones, and made lewd comments. He also noticed a snake tattoo on one of the students’ hands and made obscene remarks.
The students had called their friends for help, and when they arrived, the accused confiscated their phones as well. He then proceeded to harass the students further by forcing them to kneel down.
Another young man arrived and informed the police around 1:30 am, who arrived soon after. The police from the Sadashivanagar station arrived, and the accused’s true identity was exposed. It was revealed that he had been harassing the students and their friends, posing as a Crime Branch police officer for six months.
