HAVERI: A man was arrested in Haveri district’s Shiggaon town for creating a fake death certificate of his mother to get hold of her property.
The accused, Shaukat Ali Mulki (39), allegedly created the certificate claiming his 60-year-old mother, Hooramabi Mulki, had passed away two months ago.
The mother, who lives alone, lodged a complaint with the police after discovering her son’s plan to grab the 2-acre land jointly registered in their names. The police arrested Shaukat Ali, who had been living in Hubballi, and foiled his attempt to grab the property.
