BELAGAVI: A man hailing from Rajasthan has been arrested for creating a fake Facebook profile in the name of the police superintendent Bheemashankar Guled and duping people. The arrested is Kishori Lal Tiwari (46).
The SP himself had lodged an FIR after the fake account came to his attention. Kishori Lal had opened a Facebook account in his name and later changed it to Bhimashankar Guled.
Police said another accused had also created fake Facebook profiles in the name of the SPs of Gadag and Mandya and was duping people of money. He has been identified as Arbaz (19), also from Rajasthan. He had created fake accounts in the names of IPS officers Bhimashankar Guled, B S Nemagouda, Mallikarjun Baladandi, Anukumar and M Aruna.
Police Superintendent Bheemashankar Guled said no police officer seeks money on social media and cautioned citizens against falling for such fake claims on social media.
