BENGALURU: A drunk man was arrested for damaging a Ganesha idol while trying to show devotion in the Bommanahalli area. The accused, identified as Shivu, was allegedly drunk and stumbled and fell on the idol, breaking its left ear and hand.
The incident occurred near a private building in Garvebhavipalya, where a 2-foot-tall stone idol of Ganesha was installed. Locals reported the damage on August 24, and, after an investigation, police identified he culprit as Shivu.
According to the police, Shivu had visited the spot the previous night in an intoxicated condition and tried to offer prayers to the Ganesha idol. However, he lost his balance and fell, defacing the idol.
Based on a complaint, the police arrested Shivu and registered a case at the Bommanahalli police station.
