MYSURU: A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly blackmailing a woman and extorting Rs 1.5 lakh from her. The arrested was identified as Veeresh Kumar.
The accused came in contact with the victim, who is a resident of Hunsur, through WhatsApp. He later started blackmailing her with obscene photographs, threatening to upload them on social media, and extorted Rs 1.5 lakh from her.
When Veeresh again made demands for more money, the woman lodged a complaint with the Hunsur Rural police. Veeresh hails from Sogi village in Hoovina Hadagali taluk of Vijayanagar district and was working in a hotel. He has since been remanded to judicial custody.
