Man arrested 27 years after setting wife ablaze in Tiptur village

Ningappa had set his wife on fire after dousing her in kerosene and fled.

TUMAKURU: A murder accused has been nabbed a full 27 years after he committed the crime at Kuduvanaghatta village in Tiptur taluk. The arrested accused is Ningappa (75).

In May, 1997, Ningappa had set fire to his wife Gowramma after dousing her in kerosene at their house. He had been absconding since then and a case had been registered at the Nonavinakere police station.

The police got information that Ningappa had recently returned to Kuduvanaghatta and nabbed him. He has since been sent to judicial custody.
