KALABURAGI: Close on the heels of the scam in the recruitment of police sub-inspectors, another such instance has come to light in the test conducted by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL). And this time, a gang from Gokak is believed to be active, helping candidates indulge in malpractice with the help of bluetooth devices.

The Gokak gang had arrived at an exam centre in Chincholi and gave out answers to some candidates. However, the Kalaburagi CID police got wind of it and alerted SP Isha Pant, who in turn informed the district administration.

The police immediately set up a three-layer security cover at the Chincholi college and installed metal detectors. The exam invigilators were also asked to check for malpractice.

As soon as the police got into the act, the kingpin of the gang switched off his mobile phone. It was last active near Jewargi and the police are now on his trail. A first division assistant is already under the scanner.
