HAVERI: Thick smoke started emanating from a multi-axle tanker transporting petrol on National Highway-48 near Kamadod in Ranebennur taluk on Saturday morning. The Fire and Emergency Services personnel arrived on the scene and controlled the fire, preventing a major tragedy.
The tanker was on its way from Bengaluru to Hubballi when the driver noticed thick smoke. He parked the truck on the highway and contacted the fire services. The firefighters responded quickly and put out the fire. The incident occurred in Halageri police limits.
