Major temples in Karnataka to get fresh look with better amenities

BENGALURU: Major temples in the state which come under Category A and attract a large number of devotees, which are under the administration of the state government, will soon get a fresh look.

Ramalinga Reddy, Minister for Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department, said the department has prepared a master plan to give a complete new look to temples that come under its jurisdiction, especially those that are very old and attract a large number of devotees.

Kukke Subramanya, Karnataka's 'Richest' Temple, Is Poor On Hygiene, Facilities; Where Is All The Money Going?The department plans to provide all necessary facilities to devotees visiting temples like Kukke Subrahmanya, Ghati Subrahmanya, Savadatti Yellamma and Huligemma temple. The minister has instructed the department officials to prepare a master plan.

Earlier, facilities like accommodation and dining halls were built in old temples without proper planning. Now, the department plans to build necessary structures like accommodation, dining halls, parking and other facilites around the temples without causing any damage to the original temple structure.

The government is also planning to acquire private properties around temples, if required, and develop them. Additionally, waiting rooms will be built to make the temples more convenient for devotees. The Muzarai department has initiated the process and the government has planned to develop these temples through the PWD once the master plan is ready.
