Major forest fire at Chamundi Hills, firemen struggle to put out blaze

MYSURU: A massive fire broke out on Chamundi Hills on Friday near Uttanahalli which spread quickly due to the dry vegetation, wind and heat. Fire and Emergency Services personnel battled the blaze for almost the entire day.

It is suspected that the fire was started by some miscreants and it had spread to over 40 acres. Four fire tenders were battling the blaze even as it was continuing to spread, according to fire officer Chandan.

The fire officer said the fire started from the Uttanahalli side and spread up the hill due to the dry vegetation. He also expressed confidence that the fire would be brought under control soon.
