CHIKKABALLAPUR: A major forest fire broke out atop the popular tourist spot Nandi Hills on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Saturday, destroying hundreds of trees.
Visitors were anxious as the fire spread rapidly even as the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) staff, volunteers, the police and the Fire and Emergency Services personnel tried to put it out. The fire had spread close to a cottage and due to the heat, the glass of the windows had shattered.
A major fire was seen seen Amrit Sarovar coffee estate and also on the Sultanpet route. The fire was seen rising from the foot of the hills to the top.
