BENGALURU: The Shakti scheme, one of the five guarantees of the Congress government, has been hugely successful, but Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) seem to have forgotten about providing basic facilities at bus stations for passengers and staff.

Public TV reporters conducted a random check at the Satellite bus station and the Kengeri bus station.

The city’s prominent bus stations, including those on Mysuru Road, lack drinking water facilities. The water treatment plants installed at these bus stations have not been working for years, forcing passengers and staff to buy water from shops. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of officers, no action has been taken.

This issue has been persisting for years. The BMTC and KSRTC staff have written to the department to repair the plant. Despite repeated complaints from the authorities, the department has failed to take action. The situation is not limited to these two bus stations, but is a common problem at most TTMCs, including Banashankari, Shivajinagar and Vijayanagar.

Passengers traveling to and from these bus stations, as well as staffers, are forced to spend money on buying water. Commuters say it is high time to take some action soon.
