BENGALURU: The Majestic bus station, with a history spanning 40 years, is set for a major revamp with hi-tech facilities. A four-storey building, including commercial outlets, will be constructed, from where buses will operate.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has already discussed the plans with officials. Preparations are being made to come up a blueprint for the building’s construction. The new building is expected to be constructed within the next five to six months and tenders and other procedures will commence soon.
More than 10,000 buses ply daily from Majestic’s BMTC and KSRTC bus stands. There are also plans to build a three-story building to operate the buses and to rent out some of the shops in the building to fill the corporation’s coffers.
The revamped bus station will be designed to accommodate passengers traveling to Metro and railway stations. Advanced technology, including AI cameras and LED displays on platforms, will be integrated into the new building.
Some areas of the building will be rented out to generate revenue for the corporation. The goal is to create a modern, high-tech bus station that provides a comfortable and convenient experience for passengers, officials said.
