Main accused in retired teacher’s murder caught after 2 years

BENGALURU: The prime accused in the murder of a retired teacher that took place two years ago on September 8, 2022, in Vidyaranyapura Amba Bhavani Layout, has been arrested by police. The retired teacher, Prasanna Kumari, who lived alone at home, was found brutally murdered.

The accused, Irfan, who had lived in the next house to the victim, had been planning to rob her house. He used to come to the teacher’s house regularly. He knew that Prasanna Kumari was alone at home and tht she had retired. The accused thought she had a lot of money and gold ornaments, and noticed her jewellery that she wore every day.

He had invited two of his friends, Nagendra and Ramaraj, from Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru to help him with the robbery. On the night of September 7, 2022, the three accused entered the victim’s house, tied her hands and legs, and gagged her. As a result, the victim suffocated to death. The accused then stole gold jewellary and cash from the house and escaped.

The police had arrested Nagendra and Ramaraj, but Irfan had managed to evade arrest. By the time the interrogation revealed that Irfan was the mastermind of the murder, Irfan had vacated the house. However, the police had been searching for him, and recently, they received information that Irfan was hiding in Chittur near Tirupati. After two years, the mastermind behind the murder of retired teacher Prasanna Kumari has been arrested.
