Madiwala police organise baby shower for pregnant woman constable

BENGALURU: In a heartwarming gesture, the Madiwala police station officials conducted a baby shower for a woman constable on her last working day on Monday, before she went on maternity leave.

Constable Sakkubai from Dharwad is seven months pregnant. The officers and staff surprised her by organising a baby shower for her at the station.

The police officials offered gifted her with saree, bangles, kumkum, flowers, fruits and presented Sakkubai with gifts and sweets.

Baby shower is a tradition in Indian culture, celebrated during pregnancy to welcome the unborn baby to the family and bless the mother-to-be with abundant joys of motherhood. The mother-to-be is made to feel special by showering her with gifts. But the culture differs from region to region.

Deputy Commissioner of Police C K Baba said, “We were conducted baby shower, a small event at the Madiwala station before Constable Sakkubai went on maternity leave. It was organised just to make her feel special. Police personnel are busy in their everyday work keeping aside our traditions and celebrations and hence, we organised a symbolic programme. Women officials are an integral part of the department. We will continue such good work and we will have another celebration for her post delivery”.

The DCP wished the constable a safe and healthy delivery and hoped she will resume services soon.
