CHIKKODI: Villagers set fire to a lorry transporting cattle meat at Ainapur village in Kagwad taluk of Belagavi district, on Monday night. They also thrashed the lorry driver and later set fire to the lorry which quickly engulfed the vehicle. Following the incident, the police have arrested seven people.
The lorry was transporting abotu 3-4 tons of cattle meat from Kudachi town to Hyderabad. Firefighters arrived on the scene and put out the fire. The police have registered a case and deployed over 100 police personnel, including two Deputy SPs, four police inspectors and eight police sub-inspectors to maintain law and order in the area.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify the perpetrators. Tight security arrangements have been made in Ainapur village to prevent any further tensions.
