Lokayukta police uncover crores worth of illegal assets after raid on survey official

BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police on Tuesday searched 14 locations in the city and in Tumakuru linked to survey supervisor K T Srinivas Murthy, including the taluk office at KR Puram, in connection with acquiring illegal assets.

The searches revealed a site a Andrahalli, another site in his sister’s name, land in the name of his wife, bars and hotels in the name of his brother apart from businesses in the name of Balaji Enterprises. Five liquor licences were also found in his house.

The Lokayukta police have uncovered a site worth Rs 2.70 lakh at Andrahalli, another site worth Rs 83.45 lakh in the name of his sister K T Pushpalatha at Hennur village, five guntas of land worth Rs 5 lakh at Rayapura village in the name of his wife Rajeshwari, a hotel with CL-7 liquor licence worth Rs 50 lakh in the name of his wife and brother, another hotel and boarding facility with CL-7 licence, worth Rs 50 lakh, at Banavara in Tumakuru, a bar valued at Rs 20 lakh at Nanjegowdana Palya in Tumakuru in the name of his sister, another bar and restaurant worth Rs 25 lakh in the name of his brother K T Venkategowda at Byrasandra in Tumakuru, another hotel and lodging along with CL-7 licence, worth Rs 40 lakh, in the name of his wife Rajeshwari, a car worth Rs 10 lakh, all valued at about Rs 3.53 crore.

The Lokayukta police also found out that Srinivas Murthy was building a house at a cost of Rs 60 lakh at Hennur and a site valued at around Rs 10 lakh at Kothanur. Interestingly, he had also played the role of Lord Krishna in a play on Kurukshetra.
