Lokayukta police register FIR against CM Siddaramaiah, wife and others in MUDA case

The Lokayukta police filed the FIR in the MUDA case on a day Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was in his hometown Mysuru.

MYSURU: Two days after a special court for elected representatives in Bengaluru directed the Lokayukta police in Mysuru to investigate the alleged MUDA scam, an FIR was registered on Friday under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other Acts. The FIR was filed by Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Udesha T J under the guidance of ADGP Manish Karbikar.

While Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been named as the first accused, his wife Parvathi B M has been named the second accused, Siddaramaiah’s brother-in-law Mallikarjun Swamy as third accused and seller Devaraj as fourth accused among others. The FIR was registered under all the Sections indicated by the special court.

The FIR contains more than 45 pages of documents and lists all the names mentioned in the private complaint filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna. The FIR also lists IPC Sections 120B, 166, 403, 420, 426, 465, 468, 340, 351; Prevention of Corruption Act;  Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988; Karnataka Land Grabbing Prohibition Act, 2011, among others.

Incidentally, the FIR was registered on a day the CM was in his hometown. However, there is no threat of arrest for CM Siddaramaiah or him having to seek bail, or being called for inquiry. The Lokayukta police can file a report to the court in 30 days (December 24) based on the documentary evidence. If they have to procure any documents from the accused, the Lokayukta police can issue notice and call the accused for inquiry.
