CHIKKAMAGALUR: The Lokayukta police on Tuesday raided the residence of Sringeri Congress MLA T D Rajegowda in connection with an investigation into alleged illegal assets. The simultaneous raids were conducted at four locations, including Rajegowda’s residence at Basapura in Khandya hobli, a farmhouse and properties in Balehonnur and Bengaluru.

The raid was conducted based on a court directive and an FIR against Rajegowda, his wife Pushpa, and son filed at the Chikkamagalur Lokayukta office. The complaint had been filed by BJP leader Dinesh Hosoor before the special court for elected representatives alleging that Rajegowda had not declared his assets before the Election Commission.

The court directed the Lokayukta to investigate the matter and submit a report within 60 days. The Lokayukta collected various documents and evidence during the raid from Rajegowda’s residence and other properties.
