Lokayukta police raid officials in disproportionate assets cases

BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police on Tuesday raided several government officials across the state in connection with disproportionate assets cases. The raids were conducted in Bengaluru, Hassan, Chikkaballapur and Chitradurga. The series of raids followed similar statewide raids last week.

Among those raided include BBMP revenue official N Venkatesh and BDA senior horticulture director Om Prakash in Bengaluru, Jayanna, Executive Engineer of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Hassan division, junior engineer in the Gouribidanur drinking water and sanitation project, Anjaneya Murthy in Chikkaballapur and taluk health officer Dr Venkatesh G in Hiriyur, Chitradurga.

They also raided Dr Venkatesh’s his house at Yeragunteshwara Layout in Hiriyur and his house and clinic at Adivala village. About half kg of gold, documents related to seven sites and farms at two places were found. According to officials, the seized assets are worth over Rs 3 crore.

The Lokayukta police also raided the residence of Anjaneya Murthy in Yelahanka New Town, Bengaluru, apart from his house in Tumakuru and office in Gouribidanur.

The officials raided the house of Jayanna at Channapatna Housing Colony, the residences of both his wives, a hardware store and a 7-acre farm at Shanivarasanthe in Kodagu district, belonging to him. They also raided his office on RC Road in Hassan.
