Lokayukta police raid officials in different parts of state over disproportionate assets

BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids on officials in Bengaluru and other parts of the state in connection with acquisiton of disproportionate assets.

At Basaveshwara Nagar in Bengaluru, much drama prevailed when the Lokayukta officials landed at the residence of District Health Officer (DHO) Sunil Kumar. The DHO and his family members refused to open the door and got into an argument with the Lokayukta police.

When the officer refused to cooperate, the Basaveshwara Nagar police arrived on the scene. Only then did the DHO and his family members open the door and let the Lokayukta police in.

At Challakere in Chitradurga district, the Lokayukta police raided two residences belonging to Hiriyur Range Forest Officer (RFO) Suresh and one in Bengaluru. They also raided his office in Hiriyur.

The Lokayukta officials found 1 kg of gold articles, Rs 5 lakh in cash, documents related to 9 acres of agricultural land and three sites. The RFO was later taken into custody.

Valuables and cash found in the house of Kalaburagi City Corporation deputy commissioner Jadhav.

The Lokayukta officials also raided the residence of the Kalaburagi city corporation deputy commissioner R P Jadhav at Jewargi Colony, his farmhouse and office. The officials found 30 gm of gold, two-wheelers and cards, documents related to several properties. Jadhav has been with the Kalaburagi City Corporation for the last 20 years.

In Koppal, the Lokayukta officials raided the rented house of Excise Inspector Ramesh Agadi and his office at B T Patil Nagar. They also raided his farmhouse at Tummaraguddi village in Yelburga taluk and seized documents.
