BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police on Thursday conducted raids at multiple locations across the state, including Bengaluru, targeting officials suspected of corruption. The raids were conducted in connection with disproportionate assets cases.
The raids were conducted at the houses and offices of Vasant V Naik, Chief Engineer, KRIDL; Shashidhar and R Shankar, CEOs, Raitha Seva Cooperative Society; Indresh, Assistant Professor, Veterinary College, Hebbal; S Sathish, Assistant Engineer, Mandya; M K Surakod, Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department, Dharwad; M C Sathyanarayan, Assistant Engineer, Hassan Municipal Corporation; Asif Iqbal, Assistant Engineer, Mysore Water Supply and Sewerage Board; Prakash P G, Junior Engineer, Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam, Vijayapura; and others officials in Channapatna, Ramanagara, and Bidar.
The officials are accused of amassing disproportionate assets. Cash, gold and documents were seized during the raids. For instance, Rs 2 lakh cash and 300 grams of gold were found at Indresh’s house. A locker was also found at Vasant V Naik’s house.
Lokayukta SP Vamsi Krishna said, “Raids were conducted at three locations in Bengaluru. Officials are examining documents at all locations. Properties in Channapatna, Ramanagara and Bidar have been identified. Further investigation is under way.”
Police Superintendent Shivaprakash Devaraj added, “Vasant V Naik’s house was raided, and seven properties were found. A locker was also discovered. The investigation revealed assets 140 per cent more than his known income sources. Luxury cars were also seized”.
The raids are part of an ongoing investigation into corruption allegations against these officials. Further investigation is under way.
