BENGALURU: Liquor traders in the city have planned to stage a protest against corruption in the Excise Department at Freedom Park on July 26.

The Federation of Wine Merchants’ Associations president Guruswamy said the protest is to seek fulfilment of their demands and resolution of various issues apart from corruption in the Excise Department.

Guruswamy pointed out that liquor traders are trapped under the Prevention of Corruption Act and they have to face harassment from Excise officials who conduct raids. He also said officials who are suspended for misconduct should not be given executive positions.
