BENGALURU: Liquor sales in the state have dropped significantly, and the Excise Department is yet to meet the target. People have not been buying liquor for ten months as expected by the government.
In the last 10 months, the department collected only Rs 27,872 crore, falling short of the target of Rs 38,525 crore. With only two-and- half months left, the Excise department needs to collect due Rs 10,653 crore to meet the target.
The government’s revenue target has become a headache for the Excise Department, making it challenging to achieve.
