BENGALURU: The government has banned liquor sales for five days from June 1, ahead of the Legislative Council election, . The sale was allowed till 4 pm today.
The Lok Sabha election results on June 4, and Council election results will be held on June 6. Hence, the government directed to ban the liquor sale 48 hours before the results day.
The government also directed shop owners not to stock liquor in liquor stores, restaurants, clubs or hotels. Liquor shops will close from June 1 at 4 pm to June 3. Liquor outlets are allowed to sell liquor after 4 pm only in select areas.
Ahead of Lok Sabha election result day on June 4, the government has imposed a ban on liquor sales from 6 am to 12 am and sales are allowed on June 5. The sale of liquor is banned on June 6 from 6 am till 12 am on June 7 due to MLC election results.
