KALABURAGI: A life convict, who had been absconding for 11 years, has been arrested again by the Kalaburagi Suburban police. The accused was convicted for the murder of a policeman. The convict is Ambarish Natikar.
In 2009, Ambarish had murdered police constable Ashwini Kumar at Biddapur Colony and was convited to life imprisonment by a court in 2011. Ambarish was lodged in the Kalaburagi jail, but picked fights with other inmates and was shifted to the Vijayapura jail in 2014.
While serving jail term, he fell ill and was admitted to the district hospital in Vijayapura where he somehow managed to hoodwink the sentries and had escaped to Pune in Maharashtra. There, he changed his name, got married and even worked as a police informant. He had used his deceased brother-in-law identity to create a fake ID for himself.
After 11 years, Ambarish was again arrested by the Kalaburagi police and a case has been registered against him. Police Commissioner Dr Sharanappa has hailed the work of the Suburban police.
