TUMAKURU: A leopard which was trapped in a cage was burnt alive in a forest fire near Madlehalli in Tiptur taluk. A huge wildfire had broken out in the area on Tuesday.
The Forest Department personnel had placed the cage to trap the leopard after it was spotted in Madlehalli village. But even after many days, the staff had not checked the cage while the leopard remained trapped inside.
Villagers alleged that the negligence of the Forest Department personnel led to the death of the leopard. The incident occurred under KB Cross police limits.
