BENGALURU: A leopard was spotted in the wee hours on Tuesday near Electronics City toll gate of Phase 1. This is a major IT hub and traffic was minimal at that time. The leopard was seen in CCTV footage crossing the road, creating panic among local residents.
The leopard was moving from the Fanuc India Pvt Ltd Service Center towards the NTTF campus. A staffer at the toll plaza was stunned when he saw the leopard appear while checking on CCTV footage.
This is not the first time a leopard has appeared in the area. For several days, residents of nearby localities such as Anekal, Jigani and Kalasanhalli had reported sightings. However, the forest department had not taken any action so far.
Upon receiving information, KR Pura forest range officials visited the site and conducted an investigation. They have planned to catch the leopard and relocates it if necessary. The sighting of the leoparad in the IT hub has now raised concern among IT employees.
According to Sunil Joshi, principal of NTTF College, “A leopard was spotted near our institution’s compound wall here on CCTV camera near the tollgate. We have checked all the CCTV footage as a precautionary measure, but did not find it anywhere. Forest department officials also came and checked the surroundings. It was spotted in other places in the Bannerghatta forest area and nearby deserted regions. The forest department has assured us that they will track it”.
