Leopard scare persists, Forest Department continues combing ops

The Forest Department has placed a trap, but the leopard has remained elusive.

BENGALURU: With the leopard scare continuing in the city, Forest Department officials are on high alert after locals informed them about the appearance of an animal in Kumbalgodu, Karigudda and Kengeri.

In video footage, a leopard can be seen drinking water from a tank.

Officials are continuing their search operation to trap the leopard, but  have been unsuccessful so far. In the Karigudde forest area, a leopard was caught on camera drinking water from a tank, leading to anxiety among the people. The Forest Department has set up two cages in the Turahalli forest area, and special teams have been formed for combing during the day and night.

The Forest Department officials suspect that leopard might have come from Bannerghatta, and they have alerted people to be careful.

A local resident speaking to media about the leopard menace

“For the past 10 days, we have been living in fear after a leopard was spotted. We are safeguarding our domestic animals. I have been living here for the past 30 years, and we never had to face these kinds of problems. Earlier, we saw a leopard hunting a cattle, but by the time we reached the spot, it had gone”, said a local resident.
