BENGALURU: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said that legal processes will be followed in appointing a new seer for the Murugharajendra Mutt in Chitradurga.
The present seer of the mutt, Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, is currently in judicial custody in a POCSO case. On Friday, a fresh POCSO case was registered against him.
Speaking to reporters, the CM said that a delegation of mutt devotees and former lawmakers had met him and highlighted the problems being encountered in running the affairs of the mutt smoothly.
“The mutt has a trust. We will explore all the legal options. Whatever steps are taken, it will be within the framework of the law”, the CM said.
