HASSAN: A lawyer was attacked with sharp weapons by unidentified men near Eshwarahalli Koodige in Sakleshpur taluk on Tuesday night. The victim Dushyanth (40), a resident of Rameshwara village, is now battling for life in hospital.
Dushyanth, who was practising in the Alur and Ballupet courts, had gotten into money lending recently and had filed some cheque bounce cases. Around 6.30 pm on Tuesday, he left for Ballupet on his motorcycle and was attacked when he was returning home around 9 pm.
The attackers had thrown chilli powder at Dushyant’s face and attacked him in the face with sharp weapons. The lawyer was left lying in a pool of blood. Dushyanth’s father Ningaraju said they were informed about Dushyant’s condition by someone from their village. “Locals thought that he had been attacked by an elephant and informed the police”, he said.
The Alur police, who arrived on the scene, found Dushyant alive and shifted him to a private hospital in Hassan where he is being treated in the ICU. The police suspect that someone who had tracked his movements may have attacked him. The police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
