Last rites of Kuwait fire tragedy victim performed at Aland village

Vijaykumar Prasanna's body was brought to his native village on Saturday.

KALABURAGI: The casket containing the mortal remains of Vijaykumar Prasanna, of one the victims of the Kuwait fire tragedy, was brought to his hometown at Sarasamba village in Aland taluk on Saturday. The last rites were conducted later in the day by the family members.

Vijaykumar Prasanna (40) had been working as a truck driver in Kuwait for the last 10 years. Coming from a poor family, he worked hard to provide good education to his daughter and two sons. He had visited home more than a year ago and had promised to return for good after two years.

“He had last come home in 2020 and returned in 2022. We came to know about the death only yesterday. The last time I spoke to him was on Tuesday. He was the only support for the family”, said Vijaykumar’s wife Shashikala.

Aland MLA B R Patil also paid his last respects. The remains were brought from Kuwait to Kochi by a special IAF transport aircraft and from there to Hyderabad. The body was shifted by road from Hyderabad to his native village.
