KARWAR: Landslips occurred at three different locations in the district, affecting movement of vehicles on the national highways. The district has been receiving heavy rain over the last few days.

A concrete retaining wall collapsed on National Highway-66 at Tandrakuli near Kumta on Friday. The retaining wall was built after three people had died in a landslip a few years ago.

A major landslide occurred on NH-206 which connects Bengaluru-Sagar-Honnavar, at Varnakeri, affecting traffic movement. On NH-766R, a landslide occurred near the Devimaneghatta near Kelaginakeri on the Sirsi-Kumta stretch, bringing down trees and mud.

The local administration cleared the road block to allow for traffic flow. On Thursday, a lake overflowed near Kathgal, throwing traffic out of gear.
